As the National Immigration Administration (NIA) fully resumed the quick customs clearance at ports starting from May 15, Nanjing Lukou International Airport received its first inbound flight benefiting from this new policy.

Flight HO1638 from Thailand landed at the airport at 23:40 on May 14, and by the early morning on May 15, 104 passengers reached the border control hall and were eligible for the new service aimed at supporting reopening.

Liu Hui, an officer on duty at the border control station, said 94 passengers used the fast channel and the entire customs clearance for this flight took only 16 minutes, significantly faster than previous procedures.Around 6:00 am on May 15, the immigration inspection checkpoint experienced a peak in outbound passengers as five flights were preparing for departure.

Mr. Zong, a passenger of Juneyao Air’s flight HO1609, became the first to exit the checkpoint using the quick customs clearance process, which involved scanning the boarding pass and the passport, verifying the fingerprint, and taking a photo.

The checkpoint has implemented additional measures to enhance customs clearance including a smart platform to monitor and respond to changes in passenger volume.

The peak period lasted approximately 30 minutes, during which 415 outbound passengers and 207 inbound passengers completed customs clearance in the quick way.
