Jiangsu ranks 2nd in China for number of 5G base stations and users

Jiangsu had more than 202,000 5G base stations and 41.92 million 5G cellphone users by the end of this March, according to figures released by the province’s Communications Administration on April 24.

The province ranked second nationwide in both parameters. Jiangsu had a total of 762,000 base stations in cellular telephone network, including 411,000 for 4G and 202,000 for 5G. The total number of cellphone users reached 109 million, ranking third in the country. The number of 5G cellphone users increased from 39.75 million in late February to more than 40 million for the first time in March.

Along with the rising number of users of the ultra-fast network, 5G data traffic reached 1.97 billion GB in the first quarter of the year, accounting for 43.4% of the total traffic on the mobile network.

Additionally, by the end of March, Jiangsu’s telecom operators had registered 6,484 5G application projects, with 863 projects added in the first quarter. This included 381 projects about 5G+industrial Internet and 408 projects about private 5G networks.
