China Eastern Airlines flight MU5001 departed from Nanjing Lukou International Airport for Taipei on the afternoon of April 18, marking the resumption of the route after almost 38 months of suspension.

101 passengers were on board the flight. Mr. Xu, one of the passengers, said that he returned to Taiwan on a flight from Xiamen City last August and this direct flight makes the travel much easier.

The daily MU5001/5002 flight was suspended in February 2020. The weekly MU2981/2982 flight linking Nanjing and Taipei will also resume starting from April 24, increasing the total number of flights between the two cities to eight per week.

Additionally, the MU2945/2946 between Nanjing and Kaohsiung will resume with three flights per week from April 19. The round-trip service between Nanjing and Taichung will also be brought back soon.
