Nanjing's civil affairs authorities have provided income relief payments and supplies totaling over 1.6 million yuan to 687 people who got into temporary financial difficulties due to COVID-19.

Jin Jun from Northwest China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region received the subsidy of 1,000 yuan from the civil affairs department in the city’s Qixia District. He said this allowance will make his life easier for a while.

Jin’s health QR code turned yellow after passing through the Nanjing Lukou International Airport, which reported a cluster of COVID-19 infections. So he had to be placed under quarantine for over ten days. After he was cleared of the virus, he still faced difficulties to go back to Inner Mongolia.

Civil affairs authorities in Nanjing have used Big Data analysis to support the relief work. Anyone in temporary hardship due to the pandemic can call the hotline 12345 available 24 hours a day.
