Nanjing saw the return trip of a freight train on August 23, which brought back cargos in 37 containers from Hamburg, Germany via Manzhouli, China's largest land port.
The goods for importers in Shanghai, Nanjing and Suzhou included machinery and equipment, tyres, special glass and wine, which were worth about $4.83 million.
The China-Europe freight train service in Jiangsu Province recorded 837 trips in the first seven months of the year, with the transported goods valued at 13.346 billion yuan, up 3.3% and 119% year on year. As the COVID-19 pandemic affectd air and sea transport, the freight train service has facilitated the foreign trade in the coastal province .
