Nanjing reported no new COVID-19 cases for five days and 75 patients who had been infected with coronavirus were discharged from hospitals, according to the city’s press conference on August 18.
Seven patients were cured and transferred to a rehabilitation hospital for further medical observation on Tuesday. Ding Xiaoping, deputy director of the Nanjing Health Commission, said every patient discharged from hospital is provided tailored rehabilitation service.
From July 20 to August 16, Nanjing reported a total of 235 confirmed community cases, among which 160 patients are taking treatment at Nanjing Public Health and Medical Centre.
Young volunteers have played an important role in fighting the pandemic. As of August 16, 42,832 volunteers helped out by assisting testing site management, delivering supplies, and answering hotlines.
Huang Jun, deputy director of Nanjing Municipal Postal Administration, said postal outlets and processing centers in the city’s medium-risk areas are still closed and strict measures have been taken to disinfect international parcels. The city has no couriers or residents infected with the coronavirus due to contact with parcels.
