People leaving Nanjing by rail, highway or waterway will no longer be required to provide negative nucleic acid test certificate issued within 48 hours of their departure from August 23.
The city downgraded all areas to low risk on August 19 as no new locally transmitted cases of COVID-19 were reported for six consecutive days.
Following the relaxed exit rule, people only need to provide two QR codes that show their health and travel itineraries meet the requirements. At a busy road check point between Jiangsu and Anhui provinces, staff members urged drivers to verify the QR codes before starting the journey.
At Nanjing South Railway Station, passengers were reminded to keep one metre distance from others and also show their ID and health QR in an orderly manner. Staff members in protective clothing worked at the site to help enforce COVID-19 response measures.
According to Xue Fei, a transport officer in Nanjing’s Pukou District, people from medium or high-risk areas such as Yangzhou and Zhengzhou cities still need to provide nucleic acid test certificate issued within 48 hours of their departure before being allowed to visit Nanjing.
