Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan called for strict measures to contain the COVID-19 resurgence during her inspection tour in Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province on August 12.
Sun, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, appreciated efforts of frontline workers in the visit and also learned about the impacts on the elderly and children of the pandemic at a centralized medical observation center. She said it’s important to prevent cross-infection in professional ways and also offer psychosocial support and counseling.
At Lianyi Farm Produce Market, Sun inquired about the supply of vegetables, meat, eggs and other daily necessities as well as disinfection practices, and requested a stable and smooth supply of epidemic prevention materials.
She said the recent outbreak of COVID-19 has caused temporary difficulties to people in Yangzhou, but the city will definitely resume its vitality and reopen soon after containing the pandemic.
In Hanjiang District CDC, Sun talked with staff members to understand the works of nucleic acid testing and contact tracing. She said efforts are needed to improve the analysis of the epidemic development, make professional suggestions, and study how to strengthen public health management at the grassroots level.
Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, also joined the inspection tour.
