June 9 marks International Archives Day, which was established during the 2007 International Council on Archives (ICA) Annual General Meeting to recognize the significant role of archives and archivists worldwide.

The Jiangsu Provincial Archives, along with the archives in the province’s 13 big cities that have subordinate districts, have opened a total of 636,622 records and documents to the public. Additionally, the Jiangsu Archives Information Network (http://www.dajs.gov.cn/)  has published a catalog of 13,569 newly opened archives since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949.

Jiangsu Provincial Archives and Jiangsu Association for Science and Technology have cooperated to establish a comprehensive archive dedicated to the province’s academicians. This initiative aims to record, preserve and utilize the documents related to the academicians, including their life experiences, educational journeys and research accomplishments, in order to promote the spirit of contributing to the nation's scientific advancement.

Families of renowned academicians, such as soil scientist Zhao Qiguo, architectural engineer Zhou Junliang and calligrapher Liu Junchuan, have generously donated archival materials, including visual records, certificates of honor and manuscripts.

Additionally, Han Zhiqiang, director of the Shanghai Institute of Oracle-bone Inscriptions Studies, has donated over 2,600 pieces of inscriptions works. The families of Chen Min and Wang Guiying also contributed valuable records and items that bear witness to the revolutionary journey.
