Li Qiang, deputy director of the Jiangsu Department of Industry and Information Technology, said the department has introduced 22 measures to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) feeling the impact of the outbreak of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pneumonia.
Li said Jiangsu is home to many SMEs in different sectors and they have made outstanding contribution to the economic development. By the end of 2019, the province had over 3 million SMEs, accounting for 99.9 percent of the total in Jiangsu.
SMEs have been the main driving force for economic and social development in Jiangsu. However, this outbreak of COVID-19 has also hit hard the SMEs with relatively low risk control capabilities.
The 22 measures in four areas were introduced to help SMEs overcome main difficulties.
To alleviate the operation cost of companies, the province has proposed six specific measures, including tax reduction and exemption, deferred declaration and payment of tax, cut of rent costs, and other subsidies.
More efforts will be made to step up fiscal and financial support, financing guarantee and financial services, helping enterprises obtain the cash flow needed for operations in a timely manner.
Jiangsu will also implement a series of supportive policies to help enterprises keep jobs stable, allow deferred payment of social insurance premiums, and improve employment services.
