A Magical Treasure Box, a show created by the Yangzhou Puppet Research Institute, has won the financial aid of the China National Arts Fund (CNAF).
This marked the sixth time for the Yangzhou Puppet Research Institute, also a troupe, to successfully win the fund of CNAF, which was established in 2013 and aims to fund artists and creations in the country.
Dai Ronghua, director of the troupe, said Yangzhou’s puppetry originated from a long time ago and generations of artists have preserved and developed this ancient form of theatre.
In addition to performance, the troupe is also well-known for puppet making in China.
