A Spring Airlines plane carrying about 4.5 tons of masks and other epidemic prevention materials took off on time from the Yangzhou Taizhou International Airport on May 8 on its way to Osaka, Japan.

This marked the first international flight from the airport since the outbreak of the coronavirus, also the airport’s first to shift from passenger service to freight transportation as travel demand plummets.

The plane planned to return to Yangzhou Taizhou International Airport on the afternoon of May 9. Spring Airlines will fly another flight for this route on May 11.
