A large number of tech firms have moved to Jiangsu from other regions due to its innovation-friendly business environment and geographical advantages.

The report showed the Yangtze River Delta region had the largest inflow of tech enterprises in five years from 2017 to 2021 among the country’s four economic powerhouses, with Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Pearl River Delta and Chengdu-Chongqing regions the other three. Then in the delta region, most companies favored Jiangsu as the new home.

It’s worth noting that Suzhou saw a net increase of 600 new tech companies in the period, the highest among all cities in China. Suzhou’s industrial structure is now mainly based on electronic information and machinery manufacturing, while industries of biomedicine, new-generation information technology, nanotechnology and artificial intelligence are also booming and taking leading roles among prefecture-level cities nationwide.

The report also shows the most popular cities for tech enterprises in Jiangsu are Suzhou (54,053), Nanjing (40,631) and Wuxi (21,105), followed by Changzhou and Xuzhou.
