East China’s Jiangsu Province introduced a relief measure on April 8 to support private elderly-care service providers, which have seen less income, rising costs and operational uncertainties due to COVID-19.
Jiangsu will provide 145.72 million yuan to about 1,500 such institutions and facilities that are privately run or owned, or a one-off subsidy of 1,000 yuan per bed.
On April 8, the province’s Civil Affairs Department and Finance Department jointly granted the special provincial fund of 48.725 million yuan for the program, which is expected to promote the stable and healthy development of the elderly service sector.
In addition to the provincial move, local authorities are also encouraged to provide operational subsidy in advance or raise the subsidy amount to help those providers of elderly care service.
