Taizhou pilots efficient ship ownership change service

Taizhou Maritime Safety Administration became the first in China to introduce a new and more streamlined service of ship ownership change on January 1.

The administration issued the certificate of de-registration to the original owner of the vessel "Tianqi" as well as the certificates of registration and nationality of the vessel to its new owner at the same time.

This is the first marine vessel registration change in China completed without a prerequisite of stopping the sailing, which usually affects the efficiency of ship registration, especially when it involves authorities across different regions.

To improve the service quality and efficiency, the China Maritime Safety Administration announced the pilot program for the Yangtze River Delta region, which is also pursuing integrated development as a national strategy.

The pilot program is currently valid only in Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu (excluding its Lianyungang and Yancheng cities). Efforts are underway to form the effective contact and information sharing mechanism.
