With a remote video inspection system, customs in Taizhou City provided much-needed assistance for the export of 17 tons of premium ginkgo nuts on August 18.

Zhu Zhaoxiang, general manager of Xiangtai Fruits and Vegetables Co., Ltd. said the customs officers quickly examined and then issued phytosanitary certificate to facilitate the export in the difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Taixing, a county-level city under the administration of Taizhou, is the main production area of ginkgo nuts in China and especially known for the Big Buddha Finger variety of ginkgo nut.

To promote the export and improve farmer’s income, customs authorities have taken the initiative to provide technical and policy support to local enterprises, keep them informed of the specific quarantine requirements in some countries, and also guide the companies to improve the processing measures for a high quality.
