Taizhou in East China’s Jiangsu Province reached a milestone in the direct container shipping service with Japan after the vessel Huahang Hanya 1 from Nagoya, Japan berthed at a terminal in the city.
In the past containers from Taizhou need to be transported first to Shanghai and other ports, where they were then loaded to vessels in direct shipping service with Japan or South Korea. The city has opened its own direct container shipping service with the two countries, cutting the shipping time from at least one week to just two days.
Qiao Hualin, deputy director of Taizhou Customs, said the new service will help foreign trade enterprises to better explore the Japanese and Korean markets and further reduce operating costs.
