An exhibition of the select intangible cultural heritages from Jiangsu Province opened at the China Cultural Centre located in Sydney on January 27, in the run up to the Spring Festival, the Chinese Lunar New Year.
Co-sponsored by the cultural centre and the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the exhibition also marked the opening of the Cultural and Tourism Year of Jiangsu, which will roll out a series of events to showcase the province’s unique charms in Australia.
The exhibition will run until February 26 and also includes online presentation and exchange programs to facilitate Chinese culture lovers who can’t visit in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the opening ceremony, artists from Kunshan Contemporary Kun Opera Theater, Yangzhou Puppet Research Institute, Nanjing Acrobatic Troupe and Huaxing Arts Group Australia presented performances.
The event will include activities dedicated to woodblock prints, Qinhuai Lanterns, Kun Opera, and Spring Festival-themed cultural creations of Jiangsu style. Along with these programs, people can also watch the craft-making online, such as Jinlin paper-cutting and Kun Opera facial makeup.
