Wu Zhenglong, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, met the visiting delegation led by Professor Zhang Xiang, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), in Nanjing on September 7.
Jiangsu has remained committed to the principle that sees innovation as primary driving force for development and talent as the primary resources, said Wu. The province has leveraged its strengths in scientific and educational human resources and industries, enhanced the linking of innovation chain and industry chain, and endeavored to build itself into a powerhouse of innovation, industry and talent.
Noting the close and fruitful cooperation between the two sides over the years, Wu said he hopes more efforts will be made to deepen cooperation in various fields, such as innovation, talent training, academic-industry collaboration, and people-to-people exchange.
It’s also necessary to promote the integrated development of the two regions, jointly contribute to the long-term stability and prosperity of Hong Kong, advance the steady development of "one country, two systems", according to Wu.
Wu also commended Zhang, who was born in Nanjing, for his support and care of the city and Jiangsu, wishing he could continue to support the province’s high-quality development.
Zhang said that the University of Hong Kong will give full play to its advantages, actively integrate into the country’s overall development, and enhance exchange and cooperation with Jiangsu to cultivate more innovative talents and support the province’s development.
