A total of 36 international students from ten countries including Pakistan, Egypt and Yemen took part in an experiential program organized by China Scholarship Council and Yangzhou University to gain first-hand knowledge about Yangzhou’s eco-friendly development.
The students visited Yucheng Post, one of the largest and best-preserved ancient post stations along the Grand Canal. The site has important scientific, artistic, historical and cultural values for the study of ancient postal culture and transportation in history.
They also went to see the Jiangdu Water Conservancy Project which has China’s largest electrical pumping stations and learned about the city’s ecological protection of water resources on the site.
At the Sanwan Ecological and Cultural Park, participants of the program developed a better understanding of the city’s ecological restoration and cultural protection efforts.
The group also paid a visit to the China Grand Canal Museum, a new landmark of Yangzhou. The museum plays multiple roles in heritage conservation, scientific research and exhibition. Some exhibits powered by digital technology helped visitors appreciate the charm of the ancient waterway system.
