The Liandao Island scenic area in Lianyungang City of Jiangsu Province became one of 21 new destinations in China granted a 5A rating, the highest level in the country's tourist sites rating system, by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Located in northeastern Jiangsu, Liandao spans an east-west linear distance of 5.5 kilometers and a north-south linear distance of 900 meters. The sea island has a coastline of 18 kilometers long and the highest peak at 357.8 meters. It features a beautiful scenery, an annual average temperature of 14.3 degrees centigrade, and integrated development of port industry and tourism.

As of now, Jiangsu is home to 636 A-rated tourist attractions, including 26 of the highest rating, ranking first among province-level regions in terms of the number of 5A-rated scenic areas.
