This year marks the 10th anniversary of the China-Kazakhstan (Lianyungang) Logistics Cooperation Base, the first entity project inaugurated under the Belt and Road Initiative.
According to Nanjing Customs, the Base has handled a total of 500,000 TEUs till now. Notably, it ranks first nationwide in terms of the volume of chartered trains transporting Central Asian commodities, such as ferroalloys, potash fertilizer and cotton yarn.
Lianyungang’s regular freight train services span major destinations across Central Asia, transporting more than 400 varieties of goods such as home appliances, pharmaceuticals and construction materials.
In 2023, the Base reported a total transportation volume of 66,100 TEUs, marking an increase of 10.7% year-on-year, becoming a pivotal hub for cross-border transportation between Asia and Europe.
