Four western lowland gorillas from Burgers' Zoo in the Netherlands have started their new life at the Hongshan Forest Zoo in Nanjing after completing their one-month quarantine.
They will soon be introduced to the public in the newly constructed African section at the zoo’s southern gate campus.
The zoo has dedicated a decade of effort to meet necessary requirements for hosting gorillas, such as expertise in research and conservation of large apes and providing professional care.
The new arrivals will play an important role in promoting public education about animal conservation.
