The Spring Festival travel rush, which is called "the world's largest migration", ushered on January 10 in China, 15 days ahead of the Spring Festival, or the Lunar New Year. In the following 40 days, hundreds of millions of Chinese will travel to their hometowns.
China Railway Shanghai Group estimated that railways in the Yangtze River Delta, which has the most developed economy and the most densely populated population in China, will transport 79.6 million passengers during the holiday season, which means 1.99 million passengers per day.
China Railway Shanghai Group will also increase the number of trains during the period, among which 74.5 percent will be fast-speed trains. It also plans ticket discounts for some trains up to 55 percent.
