Jiangsu’s Department of Industry and Information and Department of Finance have organized the recognition of 252 exemplary smart workshops in 2020 amid efforts to increase intelligent transformation in the manufacturing industry.

The recognition involved many steps including an enterprise’s application, recommendation from local authorities, expert review, and on-site verification. Among the winners was a workshop at the Nanjing branch of SAIC MAXUS Automotive.

The public notice period ends on December 20 before the winners are formally recognized.

Although all 13 cities with subordinate districts in Jiangsu have winning workshops, most however are in southern Jiangsu. The top three cities are Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou.

The province has released a guideline over development of smart workshop for enterprises, including the use of industrial robots and application of new technologies to improve product quality and efficiency. A smart workshop is expected to perform better in data collection and Internet connection of equipment.  Jiangsu has identified a total of 1,055 smart workshops for provincial demonstration.
