A wide range of activities have been held in Jiangsu Province to mark the 13th World Family Doctor Day (WFDD), which falls on May 19, such as free consultations and health awareness sessions.
At present, the province boasts 14,600 teams and 1,921 studios with 63,800 family doctors, including 25,600 general practitioners and 12,500 specialists. In Jiangsu, 41.32% of resident population and 76.54% of key population are supported by family doctors, usually after signing an agreement to specify the services, 1.11 and 4.16 percentage points higher than the figures in 2021, and the agreement renewal rate in key population reached 85.24%.
Some 90% of counties in Jiangsu offered medical services for patients at primary medical institutions first before a clinical referral, and over 20% of patients sought consultation first at such institutions, with an average cost of 60.88 yuan. The overall satisfaction rate of family doctors exceeded 80%.
