Jiangsu plans to build 50,000 new 5G base stations in 2022, announced the province’s Communications Administration on February 10.
The coastal province opened about 60,000 5G base stations last year, bringing the total number of such facilitates for the ultrafast mobile network to 130,000, the second highest in China.
Among cities in Jiangsu, Suzhou had the largest number of 26,000 5G base stations in 2021, with 11,000 newly opened in the year, and will then add 10,000 new base stations this year.
According to Jiangsu branch of China Mobile, the company will improve efforts to build a 5G network with wide coverage, stable service and excellent applications this year, especially at subway stations, coastal areas and the Yangtze River waterway.
