The Nanjing Talent Day 2023 opened on May 18 with Nanjing University as the main event venue.

Among the participants in the launch ceremony is Nie Yuefeng, a professor in the university’s School of Modern Engineering and Applied Sciences. As one of the young scholars who returned to China after studying abroad, Nie wrote a letter to President Xi Jinping about one year ago and got a reply from him.

In his speech, he said he received strong support both the city and Nanjing University after joining the university. He has published more than 50 quality papers, including two in Nature, and also has received several invention patents. Nie stated that he plans to utilize his research to contribute more to Nanjing’s industrial layout and urban development.

During the event, Nanjing and Nanjing University also signed a strategic cooperation agreement, unveiling several collaborative projects. The two sides have deepened partnership in recent years with the aim of translating research outcomes into practical applications.

In 2019, the two sides agreed to create a demonstration zone for high-quality development of education and innovation, which has gained significant influence today. According to the plan, by 2025, the demonstration zone will cultivate 100 school leaders who are pioneering educators, foster a reserve of 100 innovative talents, organize 100 academic sessions, establish 100 educational reform and innovation projects, form an educational think tank comprising 100 experts, and  commend 100 outstanding students and teachers.
