More than 200 people from home and abroad participated in a walking program to pay tribute to the victims of the Nanjing Massacre on April 2.

The Memorial Hall of the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders in Nanjing organized the program ahead of Qingming Festival, known as the Tomb-sweeping Day.

During the activity, participants walked to visit burial sites for the victims at Zhongshan Pier, Caoxiexia, Yanziji, and Jiangdongmen.

At Caoxiexia, students from Nanjing Foreign Language School and volunteers also gathered to read chapters from The Rape of Nanking: The Forgotten Holocaust of World War II, written by Iris Chang.

Ruan Hongyan, daughter of Nanjing Massacre survivor Ruan Dingdong, is one of China's first batch of "inheritors of historical memories regarding Nanjing Massacre." She told participants about the tragic experiences of people in the past to visitors at Yanziji riverbank.
