Nanjing has made active efforts to support its nighttime economy with culture and tourism in this summer.
The Jiangsu Garden Expo Park, the venue to host the 11th Horticultural Exposition of Jiangsu Province, is located 20 kilometers away from downtown Nanjing. It attracted more than 10,000 visitors to see two firework shows, which also boosted businesses of camping and accommodation.
The park has become a flagship project to fuel the nighttime economy in Nanjing’s Jiangning District. Data showed the district’s number of tourists and tourism revenue in the period from July 1 jumped by 77% and 51% year-on-year respectively, mainly because of nighttime business activities.
Nighttime tourism programs have mushroomed in Nanjing since June, such as nearly 100 festivals, shows and outdoor markets held at scenic areas. Such programs usually integrate culture, tourism and business in innovative ways to provide multisensory experiences to visitors.
Wang Haiyang, marketing director of Jiangsu Reforce Co Ltd, said, as young tourists pay great attention to immersive experience, the company finds its service in this field, achieved through digital technologies, is in hot demand.
For example, one of the company’s projects makes use of the City Wall of Ming Dynasty as the backdrop and highlights the culture and history through naked-eye 3D LED display, holographic projection and other sophisticated lighting devices to create unique visit experience.
