Jiangsu has launched a series of measures to boost the development of cultural and tourism industry, including more targeted assistance to scenic spots, tour operators, entertainment agencies and tourism industries.
The province’s Department of Culture and Tourism went all out to process application for various subsidies, such as those in recognition of quality enhancement by scenic spots and innovative practices by tour operators.
At the beginning of 2022, it worked with the Department of Finance to roll out 16 measures to assist cultural and tourism sector hit hard by the pandemic, such as giving more financial relief and offering stimulus payments to increase consumer spending. Some of the measures were late incorporated into the provincial government’s coronavirus relief package.
Li Chuan, deputy director of the Department of Culture and Tourism, said 85 million yuan from a special fund will be used to support the recovery and innovative development of travel agencies, tourist attractions, brokerage companies, small theatres, hotels and other market players.
In addition, the province has kicked off the application earlier than usual for an annual fund totaling 90 million yuan earmarked for the industrial development. The interest subsidy worth 10 million yuan will also benefit top-performing tourism projects.
