Jiangsu Province has allocated 286 million yuan for use in the protection of cultural relics and heritage sites this year, according to the provincial government on August 23.
The fund included 220 million yuan from the central government and 60 million yuan provided by the province.
The fund has been used to support 185 initiatives including maintenance of the Grand Canal cultural heritage and the former site of Dasheng Cotton Mill in Nantong City as well as key archaeological and research projects.
