Jiangsu Province has allocated 29.84 million yuan to reward 791 cinemas that stood out in screening domestic films in last year.
This included 6.39 million yuan given to 157 cinemas in Suzhou, 5.94 million yuan to 115 cinemas in Nanjing and 3.31 million yuan to 93 cinemas in Suzhou.
Wang Hui, Nanjing manager of Wanda Cinema, said that a total of 61 directly-managed outlets of the movie-theater chain received the reward, among them 8 are in the pandemic-hit Yangzhou and Nanjing cities.
Wang also said the fund can help ease the financial pressure of cinemas that reported declining revenues in the summer.
