East China’s Jiangsu Province has earmarked 712 million yuan to support the development of Big Data platforms, the health QR code system, hospital renovation and infrastructure upgrade of public medical centers for the fight against COVID-19.
Jiangsu has allocated 440 million yuan to support data sharing across the province. In the early stage of COVID-19 outbreak, Big Data platforms distributed over 3.66 million pieces of information to regions inside the province and 5.3 million pieces of information to recipients outside the province, helping to curb further spreading of the virus.
Fiscal funds have also been used to improve a provincewide health QR code system, such as adding the new feature of nucleic acid testing and vaccination information inquiry, a significant boost to the IT-based pandemic response.
To improve the capacity of testing and medical treatment, Jiangsu designated a fund of 68.37 million yuan for renovation projects at 16 hospitals, such as the Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital and Yangzhou University Hospital, in line with requirements of the National Health Commission and the National Development and Reform Commission.
Meanwhile, the province has stepped up measures to enhance the public health emergency response. This included improving the management system and supporting the development of the Nanjing Public Health and Medical Centre.
