A color planning for downtown Yangzhou has won recognition of the Architecture MasterPrize (AMP) in the Urban Planning category.
The Architecture MasterPrize (AMP) honors designs in the disciplines of architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture with the goal of advancing the appreciation of architecture worldwide. Each submitted design was evaluated by the esteemed AMP Jury, and the best projects were selected across 42 categories, according to its official website. Winners for this edition were selected from over 1,500 entries from over 70 countries.
An official from the Yangzhou Natural Resources and Planning Bureau said this is the first time that a domestic color planning project won the prestigious honor.
The project was the result of a team led by Professor Guo Hongyu of Guangzhou University, commissioned by the bureau. The team explored the color gene of Yangzhou’s traditional culture, iconic buildings and natural environment, identified five main hues to create a color environment with local significance, and then applied it to modern urban space, said Guo.
Guo said the team used typology method and urban space analysis method to draft the urban color planning strategy of different spatial levels and functional types for Yangzhou.
