As the 2020 China Yangzhou Huaiyang Cuisine Festival opened on September 26, a series of events will let visitors enjoy the best of one of the Four Great Traditions in Chinese cuisine until October 8.
A famous cultural city with a history of more than 2,500 years, Yangzhou was the fourth city in China to join the UNESCO Network of Creative Cities in gastronomy. The city also boasts a flourishing modern food industry and new cuisine creations that keep a delicate fusion of tradition and today’s health trends. The city is well-known for profound cultural legacies, great natural landscape, and vibrant open development.
Han Ming, President of China Hotel Association, said Yangzhou has made new strides this year in integrating upstream and downstream companies in the food industry, diversified the forms and activities, and injected strong impetus to food industry development through the application of Internet. Such efforts will also boost Yangzhou’s overall reputation in the world.
At the opening ceremony, Yangzhou announced the first batch of 15 model restaurants that best embody the city’s recognition as a member of the UNESCO Network of Creative Cities in gastronomy.
