Jiangsu has stepped up efforts to ensure smooth progress in autumn harvesting and planting activities.
In Nantong City, locals have finished the corn harvest and reached 80% completion for soybeans. Planting of beans and rapeseed have also commenced in the city.
Lianyungang has largely completed peanut harvest over an area of 300,000 mu (2,000 hectares), along with corn over 677,000 mu and soybeans over 168,000 mu. Meanwhile, rice harvesting began over an area of 3.092 million mu and the city finished sowing of summer grain over 750,000 mu.
Progress has also been made in Huai’an City as it has prepared 12,000 combine harvesters, 20,000 straw processing units, 20,000 plowing and tilling machines, and 25,000 seed sowing machines.
"Currently, the weather has generally been favorable for this year's autumn harvesting and planting, contributing to normal progress,” said Ji Hui, director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
Ji also emphasized the need for earlier coordination in the use of farming machines and services across different areas. For example, the province plans to offer the green channel for refueling for the machines , facilitate the access to such machinery in various areas, and assist in resolving operational issues.
