Eight cities in Jiangsu had opened 32 metro lines totaling 936.2 km by the end of 2021, the second longest mass rapid transit network in China, according to the province’s Bureau of Statistics on March 1.
Guangdong Province took top spot with 35 metro lines spanning 1128.7 km, while Shanghai and Beijing had 20 and 27 lines respectively, at 825 and 783 km long.
Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu, boasted 13 metro lines of 409.7 km long, the 7th longest network among cities in China. Suzhou’s metro network included 7 lines that extended for 254.2 km, the 12th longest in the country. There were also four lines in Wuxi, three in Xuzhou and two in Changzhou, at 110.8 km, 64.1 km and 54 km long respectively.
