Jiangsu’s investment in railway construction totaled nearly 27 billion yuan during the first five months of the year, surpassing its scheduled progress and accelerating in June.

Construction of the Hongze-Jinhu Bridge, the longest bridge on the Nanjing-Huai’an Intercity Railway, was in the stage of cantilever beam building on June 15. The railway project manager Qi Jiayan mentioned that this key bridge involves complex superstructure construction, with essential pile foundation works to be completed in the first half of the year.

Moreover, the construction of the new high-speed railway along the north shore of the Yangtze River in Nantong City is also progressing smoothly. Li Chao, deputy project head, said that the first six months would see the completion of bridge pile foundation and piers, with the next phase focusing on superstructure and related ancillary parts. This railway is expected to improve the regional transport network and promote integrated development.

Jiangsu has intensified efforts to build modern transport and logistics system to high standard, including connecting ports with dedicated railways to enhance operational efficiency. For instance, a 6,283-meter-long railway linking with Suqian’s river port underwent the static acceptance testing in early June, according to project manager Wang Liqiang.
