Jiangsu’s foreign trade achieves year-on-year growth for two consecutive months

Jiangsu’s foreign trade expanded by 7.4% year-on-year in November after the first positive growth in October, according to Nanjing Customs.

The province’s total foreign trade reached 482.53 billion yuan, accounting for 13% of the national total in the same month.

From January to November this year, the province’s foreign trade amounted to 4.77 trillion yuan, representing 12.6% of the national total during the same period.

Private enterprises have played an increasingly important role. In the first 11 months of the year, they registered a foreign trade volume of 2.14 trillion yuan, marking a 7.4% year-on-year increase and accounting for 44.8% of the province’s total.

Meanwhile, foreign-funded and state-owned enterprises achieved foreign trade of 2.24 trillion yuan and 398.33 billion yuan, respectively, accounting for 46.8% and 8.3% of the province’s total in this period.

In addition, foreign trade with emerging markets has shown rapid growth. In the first 11 months of the year, the province’s imports and exports with the Middle East, Africa and India surged by 19.8%, 6.8% and 6.5% year-on-year, respectively.

Exports of mechanical and electrical products totaled 2.08 trillion yuan, constituting 68.1% of the total export value. Notably, exports of cell phones and ships increased by 68% and 43.4% respectively.
