Jiangsu’s foreign trade in the first eight months of this year reached 3.63 trillion yuan, up 10.6% year-on-year, accounting for 13.3% of the country's total, according to Nanjing Customs.
The exports climbed up 13.6% to 2.31 trillion yuan, and imports expanded by 5.7% to 1.32 trillion yuan. The province’s foreign trade growth is 0.5 percentage points higher than the national average.
During the period, the imports and exports volume realized by the province's private enterprises and state-owned enterprises amounted to 1.43 trillion yuan and 342.37 billion yuan respectively.
Jiangsu’s exports of mechanical and electrical products went up 13% to 1.51 trillion yuan in the eight months. In breakdown, the exports of ICs, mobile phones, solar cells and lithium-ion batteries reached 172.41 billion yuan, 70.3 billion yuan, 69.56 billion yuan and 43.51 billion yuan respectively, an increase of 15.6%, 129.6%, 75.8% and 69%.
The province's imports and exports with the European Union, ASEAN, the United States, South Korea and Japan reached 555.67 billion yuan, 532.44 billion yuan, 477 billion yuan, 395.95 billion yuan and 287.65 billion yuan, an increase of 13.3%, 13.2%, 8.6%, 17.8% and 1.6% respectively.
During the same period, Jiangsu’s foreign trade with countries and regions along the Belt and Road was 954.21 billion yuan, a growth of 14.8%.
