Jiangsu has recently announced 24 measures to promote the high-quality development of its textile and garment industry, with the aim of building world-class industrial clusters.
Jiangsu has the second largest textile and garment production in China. In 2021, the province's textile and garment exports reached $57.1 billion, accounting for 16.4% of the country's total.
The measures focus on scientific and technological innovation, intelligent manufacturing, energy saving, quality improvement, market development and enhanced services.
For example, Jiangsu will support small and medium-sized enterprises to increase innovation and management capacities in fabrics, yarns, equipment and other market segments, and also facilitate the in-depth integration of manufacturing and services.
The province will also boost the development of digital design platforms, support the establishment of design associations, and plan to create 40 provincial industrial design centers by the end of 2025.
Jiangsu aims to cultivate 200 provincial-level smart manufacturing demonstration workshops and 20 demonstration factories by the end of 2025. It will also enhance the industry’s green transformation, such as promoting the more effective use of land and energy. The goal is to cultivate 100 provincial-level green factories.
Jiangsu will also advance the chief quality officer system and strive to establish such system in all textile and garment enterprises above the designated size by 2025.
Meanwhile, the province will strengthen the provision of services, including financial support for the development of textile industry.
