Nanjing's foreign trade reached 534.02 billion yuan in 2020, up 10.6% year-on-year, 8 percentage points higher than the province's average growth rate.
Exports totaled 339.89 billion yuan, up 13%, and imports saw a year-on-year growth of 6.6% to hit 194.13 billion yuan.
The EU continued to be Nanjing's top foreign trade partner. Nanjing's imports and exports to the United States and ASEAN also rose significantly, more than 20%.
Foreign trade by private enterprises reached 198.54 billion, an increase of 26.6%, accounting for 37.2% of the city's total.
Data also showed foreign-invested enterprises contributed 181.9 billion yuan to foreign trade, an increase of 3.8%, accounting for 34.1% of the city's total. Foreign trade by state-owned enterprises went up by 3.1% and reached 152.78 billion yuan, accounting for 28.6% of the city’s total.
In the past year, Nanjing exported 177.28 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, up 18.9%, accounting for 52.2% of the exports value. Tablet computers, storage batteries and integrated circuits topped the exports list.
Among the imported products, integrated circuits, semiconductor manufacturing equipment and iron ore grew significantly. The import of semiconductor manufacturing equipment increased by 94.7%.
