Delegation Commitments丨Ma Shiguang: Lianyungang aims eight-pronged progress for high-quality development

The year 2024 marks the 40th anniversary of Lianyungang becoming one of China’s first coastal cities to open-up. Aligning with the 14th Five-Year Plan, Ma Shiguang, head of Lianyungang delegation at the "two sessions" of Jiangsu Province, introduced that the city will focus on eight priorities in the year.

First, to promote significant investment and projects, enhance the business environment, and guarantee the factor of protection, with an aim of completing annual industrial investment of 150 billion yuan.

Second, to accelerate new industrialization, strengthen industrial and supply chains, achieve new breakthroughs in S&T innovation, facilitate industrial clusters in major sectors such as petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals and new materials. The city will boost the transformation of traditional sectors including iron, steel and food, and actively explore new progress in the high-quality development of the ocean and digital economies, with the goal of increasing the total industrial output value by 100 billion yuan.

Third, to promote the development of China-Europe freight train services towards higher quality, efficiency and safety, and keep the new Asia-Europe land-sea intermodal transportation channel in smooth operation.

Fourth, to improve urban functions, and upgrade the economy at the county level.

Fifth, to continue pollution prevention and control, and coordinate such efforts with initiatives to reduce carbon emission and prormote green growth.

Sixth, to ensure progress in key projects related to enhancing people’s livelihood, and improve the urban and rural community governance system.

Seventh, to promote the innovative transformation and development of traditional Chinese culture.

Eighth, to strengthen a healthy political atmosphere of integrity within the Party.
