The year 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and will be a critical year for fulfilling the targets in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025). Chen Zhongwei, head of Suqian delegation at the "two sessions" of Jiangsu Province, said that Suqian will focus on the following priorities:

Firstly, to promote sustained and steady economic growth by all means, consolidate and strengthen the momentum of economic revival, and maintain leading economic growth with optimized economic structure and better quality.

Secondly, to develop a stronger and bigger industrial economy, promote the upgrade of thousands of enterprises, expand industry chains, and construct industrial parks, aiming for 100 billion yuan in output values. The city will go all out to establish an advanced manufacturing system featuring a robust industry chain, unique characteristics and competitive strengths, thus elevating the quality of the manufacturing hub in the Yangtze River Delta region.

Thirdly, to advance new industrialization, informatization, urbanization, and agricultural modernization in a holistic manner. Suqian intends to resolve structural difficulties and institutional constraints in industrial development, integrated urban-rural development and progress of people’s livelihood. This approach will gradually build momentum and prepare for modernization.

Fourthly, to regard the people's wellbeing as the greatest achievement, and take more effective measures to ensure the people’s happiness.

Fifthly, to maintain bottom-line thinking, and effectively safeguard the overall public security and social stability.
