One city and two industrial parks in Jiangsu Province have been included in the list of carbon peaking pilot program announced by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) on December 6.

The first list included 25 cities and 10 industrial parks, including Yancheng City, Suzhou Industrial Park and Nanjing Jiangning Economic and Technological Development Zone from Jiangsu.

In line with the government's action plan to peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030, the NDRC intends to select 100 cities and industrial parks nationwide to pilot the effort, and they are expected to provide operable and scalable experiences and practices. The recognized cities and industrial parks will focus on addressing challenges related to green and low-carbon development and exploring paths suitable for regions with diverse resources and development conditions.
