The Standing Committee of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and the leading group of the province’s COVID-19 response jointly convened a meeting on July 30 to tighten the prevention and control of the pandemic.
Presided over by Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, the meeting noted that the epidemic situation remains grim and complex and the topmost priority is to curb the virus spread.
Jiangsu needs to integrate its sources from public health, police, and information technology to cope with the recent spike in COVID-19 infections through stringent and detail-oriented measures. It’s necessary to make full use of Big Data, in-person visits and community grid management, a social governance system to improve government-citizen communication and public service delivery.
Efforts should be made to optimize the nucleic acid testing process, from sample collection to delivery, analysis and feedback, and also improve the quality and accuracy of the testing. Jiangsu needs to adopt scientific methods in deciding which area is of high, medium or low risks and also gets organized in managing people’s movement, testing and people's livelihood. It’s important to give full play to the province's medical advantages in respiratory diseases and intensive care, effectively combine traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine in the treatment, and try the best to prevent the condition of the infected from worsening. The province will try the best to protect the health of medical and nursing workers, resolutely avoid cross-infection in the hospitals, and take more scientific and targeted steps in containing the epidemic.
It’s emphasized in the meeting that Jiangsu will improve management of ports, airports, railway stations, and highways to not only prevent the case imported from other provinces and countries but also stop the spread of the virus inside the province or to other provinces.
The province will improve the dissemination of information in the fight against COVID-19, get the public to better support the extensive containment measures, take care of medical personnel, grassroots cadres, police, community workers and others working on the frontline, and help solve practical difficulties in a timely manner.
