Jiangsu has added eight more national bases for foreign trade transformation and upgrading, according to the latest assessment by the Ministry of Commerce.
Such bases aim to foster industrial clusters to facilitate enterprise innovation and development. The ministry announced 105 new bases across the country and also said 251 bases recognized in 2018 passed the evaluation, among which 17 are located in the eastern coastal province.
By the end of June, there were 81 such bases at the national or provincial level in Jiangsu, ranging from traditional to emerging and strategic industries, such as high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy, new materials, biomedicine and environmental protection. The industries that Jiangsu has built a full-fledged industrial chain and supply chain include integrated circuit, shipping, automobile and motorbike, solar and wind power, biomedical and medical equipment.
The Department of Commerce of Jiangsu Province has pledged to carry out a series of measures to advance the transformation and upgrading of the base, such as accelerating the development of cross-border e-commerce, organizing online marketing campaigns, and deepening cooperation with Alibaba, Amazon, and made-in-china.com to facilitate digital transformation. For example, the garment base in Changshu will make full use of support policies and improve its integrated platform that combines trade service and effective market supervision. The platform has provided service to more than 1,800 market players, which achieved foreign trade of over $2 billion.
