Jiangsu will host the Taihu East Asian Entrepreneurs Forum in Suzhou City on May 17 upon approval of the State Council, according to a press conference of the provincial government.
The forum is hosted by China Chamber of International Commerce, Jiangsu Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, Japan External Trade Organization, Japan-China Economic Association, Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Korea International Trade Association, under the guide of the Ministry of Commerce of China, the Jiangsu Provincial Government and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of South Korea. It is also supported by the Association for the Promotion of International Trade in Japan, KOTRA, Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce, Jiangsu Foreign Affairs Office, Jiangsu Trade Promotion Council and Suzhou People's Government.
The forum will have about 630 participants including 410 foreigners. Approximately 70% of the Japanese and Korean participants will be executives and senior managers in enterprises in the province.
The event will include one main forum and five support events. The main forum will include in-depth discussion of key opportunities to strengthen Jiangsu’s industrial cooperation with Japan and South Korea, facilitate contact and partnership, and increase joint efforts to enhance the stability and competitiveness of the industrial chain and supply chain.
The forum will release the results of Jiangsu’s cooperation with the two countries, launch an online platform for professional talent service, and publish an initiative led by top entrepreneurs of the three sides.
Jiangsu enjoys a solid foundation of economic and trade cooperation with Japan, the province's fifth largest trading partner and the third largest source of foreign investment, and South Korea, the fourth partner and the fifth investment source. Jiangsu also boasts 36 cities that have friendship relationships with counterparts in Japan and South Korea, 29 in sister-city relationships.
In February this year, the province introduced the first batch of seven China-Japan-Korea (Jiangsu) Industrial Cooperation Demonstration Parks to explore new paths of industrial cooperation among the three neighbouring countries.
Zhao Jianjun, director of the provincial Department of Commerce, said the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement has brought new opportunities for cooperation between the three countries. Meanwhile, China has embarked on a new development path and is moving towards the "dual circulation," in which domestic and overseas markets reinforce each other, with the domestic market as the mainstay. Such a domestic environment also injects new momentum into cooperation among East Asian entrepreneurs.
