A free ferry service between the Dingyizhou anchorage ground of the Yangtze River and the marine law enforcement agency in Zhengrunzhou opened on the afternoon of July 1.
The new service in Zhenjiang City, three times a day, was offered thanks to a cooperation between Yangzhou Shipping Affairs Center for the Subei section of the Grand Canal and CSC Green Shipping in Wuhan. The Subei section is a key route for bulk material transportation in the Yangtze River Delta region.
With the service, crew of vessels anchored at Dingyizhou can travel much easily and get ashore at the mouth of the Liuwei River, on the other side of the anchorage ground.
In the past, crew needed to use small boats to commute across the river to buy supplies or get the chores done. Ma Jialei, owner of a cargo ship, said this new service is a great help to crew and improves their safety.
